As plans for the 22nd Golden Joystick Awards continue apace, organiser Dennis Publishing has revealed Gamestation will be the exclusive retail partner for the 2004 awards.

Gamestation will be promoting the awards extensively in-store as well as supporting them with an online and direct marketing campaign driving public voting and positioning The Golden Joysticks firmly in the high street

At the same time, Dennis has revealed Electronic Arts, Macrovision and Sonopress have all pledged their support to the glittering event, confirming the Joystick's position as the only industry games ceremony of note.

Additionally, Dennis has revealed the voting for this year's Awards – which take place at the Park Lane Hilton on November 5th 2004 – looks set smash all previous records, with over 35,000 votes cast in the first few weeks of polling.

"We are indebted to our sponsors for helping us to ensure that this year's Golden Joystick Awards are the biggest and best ever," says Duncan Tickell, Group Publishing Director, Dennis Publishing. "Since 1982, the event has been rewarding the very best in the games industry, recognising the talent of those that help make interactive entertainment what it is today. This year's Awards are already shaping up to be the most competitive yet, as gamers around the world rush to ensure the games they've enjoyed are in the running for the prestigious Golden Joystick."

"Gamestation is delighted to announce its association with the Golden Joysticks," says Mike Logue, Managing Director, Gamestation. "This past year has seen Gamestation greatly increase its presence in the high street and the time is now right for us to support one of the most prestigious awards events in the calendar. The Golden Joysticks provide a great opportunity for us to talk to our customers about which games they enjoy most and why, so that we can continue to supply them with the very best choice."

"Macrovision recognises the importance of the Golden Joysticks Awards and, as the leading protector of the industry's intellectual property, is delighted to associate itself with the very best in interactive entertainment." adds Martin Brooker, European director of sales, Macrovision.

"Sonopress has almost 50 years of expertise in media manufacturing, packaging and supply chain services and as a leading provider of digital content delivery solutions for the games and computer software industry, we are proud to be associated with the industry's leading awards event," says Anshu Kane, European Games Director, Sonopress. "We've watched the Golden Joystick Awards grow with the industry and had no hesitation in backing the event fully once again."

"We're extremely grateful to those companies who have become partners of the event this year," concludes Tickell. "We look forward to working with them all closely to ensure the Golden Joystick Awards 2004 are the best in the event's long and distinguished history."

Dennis Publishing is extending the promotion of this year's awards throughout its portfolio of games and lifestyle publications, continually driving voting through Computer and Video – Europe's most popular videogames Website. A massive four-month campaign with high profile media partners – which will be confirmed shortly – will ensure that the Golden Joystick Awards 2004 smash all previous voting records and set the benchmark for industry events of this type.

The Golden Joystick Awards 2004 will be held at the Park Lane Hilton on November 5th 2004. Open voting is running now through The final nominations will be unveiled approximately two months prior to the event itself.
