GarageGames announced today a massive update release of Dark Horizons: Lore from MaxGaming Technologies, LLC. featuring new and enhanced interfaces, weapons, sound, maps and unlimited play demo on Windows and Mac.
Dark Horizons: Lore (DH:L) is a persistent player, first-person action game, in a near future Earth setting where factions fight for control of North America using remotely piloted Mechanized Assault Vehicles (MAVs). The faction wars are driven by player stats as they fight for control of objectives scattered throughout North America. Stats and player management can be viewed online and in-game. Dark Horizons: Lore is built on a distributed server model that allows players to play online for free while offering the immersive qualities of subscription-based games.
"Its exciting to see this new model for building a game materialize as players' actions direct the flow of history, and we continue to add more tech and territory," says Adrian Wright, lead designer of Dark Horizons: Lore. "Improving the game with inspiration and sometimes actual content from players makes Lore like a real war simulation with ever changing combatants and game play."
Key features of the updated release Dark Horizons: Lore include:
"Once you've played a raging frag-fest battle you'll be hooked," says Paul "Wedge" D'Elia, custom DH:L weapon contributor. "I'm amazed this game was made by Indies, the game just keeps getting better, and getting to collaborate and occasionally spank the devs is over the top."
A free feature limited trail version is available for download for both Mac OS X and Windows (Linux version coming soon) at http://www.garagegames.com/lore. The online retail version is currently available for $24.95.
